You’ll see flamingos flutter by the banks of Lake Nakuru, see Africa’s Big 5 at Masai Mara national park, dance to Maasai warriors’ drumbeats, meet your relatives; endangered mountain gorillas at Volcanoes national park, and relax by the banks of Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s freshwater lake. You’ll spend the next eight days with a professional guide, in traditional lodgings, and on extremely comfortable transportation.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pickup and National Park of Lake Nakuru

Before starting the engine, meet our business representative at an agreed-upon time at either the airport or your accommodation, and be informed on your 8-day Rwanda and Kenya safari. Your expert driver-guide will gently take you to Lake Nakuru National Park, passing through the smiling locals, the bustling Nairobi metropolis, and the undulating hills that dot the landscape.

Lunch and any other optional stops will be made along the way before arriving at the park for an evening game watching experience, relaxation, supper, and sleep.

Day 2: A full day of exploration on Lake Nakuru

Start your amazing game drive with a tasty cup of coffee in the morning and view the different hideouts of lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, ostriches, cheetahs, antelopes, giraffes, warthogs, and zebras, along with the cool and unique surroundings.

Following a four-to-five-hour tour, relax with a filling picnic lunch before visiting the lakeshores to see, photograph, and discover more about the flamingos and other threatened bird species that live in this sanctuary. After the reveal, take a leisurely drive back to the resort around dusk for dinner and sleep.

Day 3: Transfer to Masai Mara National Park

The first item on today’s agenda is a hefty, relaxing cup of coffee, followed by a dieu to the individuals who hosted you for the two nights. As you leave Lake Nakuru for Masai Mara National Park, you’ll have a game drive through the park, which is home to a diverse diversity of flora and animals as well as a breathtaking environment.

There will be a photographic break at the Great Rift Valley and a lunch break at Narok Center before ending the tour with a two-hour drive through prospering plantations and homesteads to Masai Mara national park. As supper and nighttime arrive last, relax and appreciate the cool ambiance of your lodge.

Day 4: Masai Mara game safari (full day)

At 06:00 a.m., gather your camera, binoculars, and packed lunch and set out into the vast Masai Mara wilderness in search of the African big five (lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos, and elephants), zebras, giraffes, cheetah, warthogs, antelopes, and wildebeest, among others, flamingos, ostriches, and another flamingo.

Enjoy a bush breakfast served under one of the protected tree shadows in the wild after 3-4 hours of game watching, before returning for another two-hour game drive followed by a picnic lunch.

Following that, you’ll visit the Mara River, which is home to a large number of hippos, crocodiles, birds, and animals satisfying their thirst. The Mara River is also a hotspot for activity during the annual wildebeest migration, which begins in June.

Day 5: Visit the Masai and then go to the Volcanoes National Park.

You will have a great cup of coffee very early in the morning before seeing the Maasai people, one of the world’s oldest ethnic civilizations, with fascinating tales, traditional dances, architecture, and distinctive costumes.

In the morning, you are required to join in the various activities as well as support them by giving or purchasing their souvenirs before returning to the resort for an early lunch and a direct flight to Kigali, Rwanda.

After meeting with our business representative in Kigali, you will continue on a 2–3-hour trip to Volcanoes National Park, passing through rolling hills and verdant plantations. After arriving at the resort, freshen up before supper and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking experience

At 6:00 a.m. local time, finish the last dot of tea in your cup and join other members at the park’s headquarters for Gorilla paperwork verification and briefing, which will take around 30 minutes. Before taking you to the jungles, park rangers will explain the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking and assign you to a gorilla family.

The tracking exercise lasts anything from one to six hours, from when they last saw the Apes to where they believe they are eating, playing, or resting. Expect to see other primates such as monkeys and baboons, as well as birds and uncommon tree species, while listening to the wonderful sounds that have filled the Jungle.

Because the areas are a bit steep, fitness is required, however, potters are on hand to help when needed. You will have one hour to photograph, observe, and ask any questions you may have about the gigantic silverbacks, blackbucks, female gorillas, or adolescents.

After that, you’ll return to the resort for lunch, followed by an optional drive to the Burera and Ruhondo twin lakes before supper and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Visit Dian Fossey’s tomb before departing for Lake Kivu from Volcanoes National Park.

After a great breakfast, you’ll travel to Dian Fossey’s gravesite, where you’ll learn about the primate researcher who dedicated her life to the protection of mountain gorillas only to be killed down by unknown attackers. Poachers also murdered her favorite gorillas, so she is buried with them.

You will subsequently return to the resort for lunch before departing for Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s biggest freshwater lake, to relax and unwind after the exhausting activities of the first day. In L. Kivu, you may go on a canoe trip, see fishing communities, and eat seafood.

Dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge will bring today’s chapter to an end.

Day 8: City tour of Kigali and departure.

You will leave Lake Kivu for Kigali after breakfast. However, depending on your flight schedule, you will first visit the genocide memorial site to hear about the 1994 terrible massacres between Tutsis and Hutus as a result of ethnic warfare, followed by a trip to the local markets to buy souvenirs before eating lunch and departing.
