Ol Jogi Conservancy Safari – Private Wildlife Retreat in Laikipia

Ol Jogi Conservancy: A Private Safari You’ll Never Have to Share

The gate opens, and everything shifts. No crowds. No minibuses. Just you, your guide, and eyes in the grass. This isn’t the safari you expected—it’s the one you didn’t think was possible.

Ol Jogi Conservancy isn’t public. That means no tourist vans in line, no picnic sites with strangers, no feeling like you’re part of a group tour. What you get instead is silence, privacy, and wild Africa at your pace.

Set across 58,000 acres in Laikipia, Kenya, Ol Jogi is one of the most exclusive wildlife conservancies in Africa. It was once a private family ranch. Today, it’s a conservation haven where endangered species roam safely—and guests get the kind of access usually reserved for royalty.

Why Visit Ol Jogi Conservancy?

Because sometimes you want space. Not empty space—but space where elephants roam and leopards hunt. Space where conservation isn’t a slogan but something you see, feel, and walk beside.

Ol Jogi offers:

  • Total privacy—no other vehicles, no park traffic.
  • A personal connection to wildlife: from black rhinos to Grevy’s zebras.
  • A home that feels like an African castle—built with French detail and Kenyan soul.
  • Access to areas most travelers will never see.
  • It’s less about “going on safari” and more about being absorbed into it.

Safari Activities

Ol Jogi isn’t about schedules. It’s about freedom. The freedom to choose what you do, when you do it, and how close you want to get.

Private Game Drives (Day & Night):

No need to rush to catch a lion before someone else does. Your guide drives just for you. At night, the conservancy turns into a theater of glowing eyes and stealthy movements.

Walking Safaris:

Walk with an armed ranger through silent valleys and bush trails. You’ll learn the language of tracks, scat, and sounds—and feel more animal than observer.

Horseback Riding:

Ride among zebras and giraffes in parts of the conservancy unreachable by car. No fences. No noise. Just hooves and hooves.

Visit the Wildlife Rescue Centre:

Here, animals that were orphaned or injured are cared for with world-class veterinary support. Some stay for life. Others get released back into the wild.

Visit the Rhino Sanctuary:

Ol Jogi’s rhino program is one of the most successful in Kenya. You’ll get to learn what it takes to protect these ancient creatures in a modern world.

Cave & Rock Exploration:

Hidden caves with ancient rock art lie within the conservancy. Your guide will take you into places older than cities—still untouched.

Cultural Visits (on request):

Engage with the Samburu or Maasai communities nearby for an honest look into pastoralist life, traditions, and the future they’re building with conservation in mind.

Best Time to Visit (Expanded)

Ol Jogi is a year-round destination. But depending on what you’re after, here’s what you need to know:

Dry Seasons (June–October, January–March)

Best time for game viewing. Grass is short. Animals gather around water sources. Days are sunny and comfortable.

Green Seasons (April–May, November–December)

The landscape turns lush. Newborn animals are everywhere. Fewer visitors overall. You’ll enjoy dramatic skies, blooming flowers, and softer light—perfect for photography.

No matter when you visit, the exclusivity means you won’t be sharing sightings with strangers.
