If you only have a day in Nairobi, this safari gives you a genuine taste of the wild. Lions, rhinos, giraffes — all roaming freely just minutes from the city.
You’ll be out early, back by afternoon, and in between, you’ll see how Nairobi National Park defies expectations. This isn’t a zoo. This is a full-scale national park — with a skyline.
Destination: Nairobi National Park
Duration: 1 Day (Approx. 5–6 hours)
Start/End Location: Nairobi (hotel or airport pickup/drop-off)
Activities: Morning game drive, park exploration, optional visit to nearby sites
Best for: Business travelers, stopovers, first-time safari-goers
Your driver-guide picks you up early — around 6:00 a.m. The roads are quiet. The city still half asleep. You enter the park just after sunrise when animals are most active.
Lions may be on the move, marking territory or trailing prey. Giraffes appear like silhouettes among the acacia trees.
You pass wetlands where hippos wallow and crown cranes wade. Every turn surprises. The skyline stays behind you — but never fully disappears.
You’ll explore multiple sections of the park — dry grasslands, wooded areas, and river edges. Your guide knows exactly where and when to take you.
He knows how to track, when to pause, and where the rhinos usually graze. Nairobi National Park is one of the best places in Kenya to see endangered black rhinos in the wild.
If time allows, and you’re interested, you can also visit:
David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (baby elephant orphanage; entry closes at 11 a.m.)
Giraffe Centre (feed Rothschild’s giraffes from a raised platform)
These can be arranged in advance depending on your drop-off time.
12:00–13:00: Exit & Return Transfer
You’ll exit the park by midday and head back to your hotel, the airport, or your next meeting — with photos, dust on your shoes, and a new respect for Nairobi’s wild side.
Meals: Not included (optional packed breakfast or stop at a café)
Start Early: Aim for pickup between 5:45–6:30 a.m. to maximize sightings
