6 Days Masai Mara & Lake Nakuru Safari Tour

This 6 Days Masai mara & Lake Nakuru Safari is dedicated to taking you as you explore Africa’s top game reserve in the world’s fascinating Great Migration experience.

You visit Lake Nakuru’s flamingos and other great animals before this unforgettable encounter. This tour can be customised to feature the lush balloon safari experience to give you a better encounter of the wildebeest.

Day 1: Nairobi to the National Park of Lake Nakuru

Our guide will pick you up from your booked hotel in Nairobi early in the morning after breakfast. After being briefed on your 6-day safari, you will be transferred to Lake Nakuru National Park.

Enjoy a scenic three-hour drive through Nairobi suburbs, beautiful savannah grasslands, and Rift Valley plains before arriving at Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch.

After lunch, you’ll go on your first game drive through the park, where you’ll see the wild game against the backdrop of an orange African sunset.

Lake Nakuru has the largest population of flamingos, and the game viewing experience allows you to see rare black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, tigers, waterbucks, buffaloes, and baboons, among other animals.

Dinner will be served upon your return to your lodging, followed by an overnight stay.

Day 2: From Lake Nakuru to the Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will bid farewell to Lake Nakuru National Park and embark on a 5-hour journey to Masai Mara. Before arriving at our Masai Mara National Reserve accommodation, take a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley.

When you arrive at the park, you can check into your lodging just in time for lunch. Following your refreshment, you can embark on an evening game drive, where you can expect to see a variety of wildlife species such as giant elephants, hippopotami, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, and many more.

Day 3: Full-day Masai Mara game

The following two days will be spent game-watching in Kenya’s premier Masai Mara National Reserve.

You will go on two game drives in the Mara, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, in search of the big five and other wildlife species such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, Wildebeest, buffaloes, zebras, jackals, spotted hyenas, topi, impala, Hartebeests, nat eared foxes, crocodiles and hippos among other animals.

Given your expected visit dates (July to September), you should prepare to witness the exciting Great Wildebeest Migration as it occurs in the Mara.

This natural migration of over 4 million grazers from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve is the sole reason why many tourists choose to visit Masai Mara National Reserve at this time of year. The adventure is unparalleled and is regarded as one of the world’s natural wonders.

Take Note: There is an optional cultural visit to the Masai tribe group within the park; this visit allows you to learn about Masai culture, traditions, ways of life, and cultural dance.
A hot air ballooning experience in Masai Mara Kenya can be added to your game viewing experience for an additional fee.

After completing your day’s activities, you will be transferred to our hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Full-day Wildebeest Migration

Depending on how early the herds arrive, you will have a full day to track the Great Migration in Masai Mara National Reserve. August has traditionally been the month that sees the first of the massive Mara River crossings.

It’s another major migration month for the herds, with many staying along the Mara River making their way north in search of greener pastures. If the herds have made it, August is an excellent time to witness the migration.

The first crossings of the season are always extremely dangerous, with crocodiles hungry and wildebeest behaving erratically. As a result, the first crossings leave a trail of carcasses in their wake. After an exciting day of migration monitoring in Masai Mara National Reserve, we return to our accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Full Day Wildebeest Migration safari in the Masai Mara

This is another day to take risks by exploring the Great Migration in the hopes of coming across River crossings. Our guide is experienced enough to track down and locate the exciting adventure as it unfolds in the Mara.

River crossings should occur almost daily during the month. It’s just a matter of waiting for the wildebeest to decide to cross. After a full day of exciting memories, you can return to your accommodation for beer tasting and an overnight stay in Masai Mara as we celebrate our final night in Masai Mara.
